Jane joined Charter Tax in February 2017, where her main areas of expertise are advising high net worth individuals, including non-UK domiciliaries, and both UK and offshore trustees on UK tax issues, as well as managing a portfolio of tax compliance cases. Jane has obtained the Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration and, together with Mark Howard, is therefore qualified to undertake probate work.
Jane started her tax career at a boutique tax firm in the City, specialising in Lloyd’s Names. From there, she moved to a large regional accountancy practice, before spending a number of years in the private client tax teams of a wealth management firm and several legal practices.
She has over 25 years of experience in personal tax, from day-to-day tax compliance for individuals and trusts to UK tax advice for offshore trusts and non-UK domiciled individuals.
Jane has more recently become a volunteer for the tax charity “Tax Help for Older People” (www.taxvol.org.uk) which, as the name suggests, provides assistance to older people on lower incomes (£20,000 gross or less per annum) who would not be able to afford to pay for professional tax advice.
In her spare time, Jane can usually be found trying to understand her teenager’s maths homework, learning about all things Dalek and Cyberman from her Dr Who-obsessed son or hiding out in her sewing shed in the garden, working through her extensive fabric stash.
