Charlotte Jackson joined Charter Tax in 2012, having previously worked for another firm of accountants, as well being a legal secretary for a local law firm.
“I came across Charter Tax via a recruitment agency, who said a local firm was looking for a PA,” explains Charlotte. “It sounded perfect, so I applied then and there and was offered an interview. I liked the place immediately.”
Charlotte was the ninth person to join the team and was, initially, PA to Janet Pierce.
“I also did a lot of the office admin and no day was ever the same,” she adds. “At that time, we all shared one office, so I quickly got to know everyone and how the company worked.”
During her time with Charter Tax, Charlotte has been on maternity leave twice.
“After I returned from having my first child, I was given the job of credit controller, which remains one of my roles today,” says Charlotte.
Then, when Mark Howard joined Charter Tax, Charlotte was offered the opportunity to become his PA.
“I’ve been in that role now for four years and believe we work well together,” she says. “I also assist the private client team with any admin tasks they need doing, including billing.”
Charlotte admits that she didn’t really know what she was going to do when she left college.
“I liked the idea of graphic and/or interior design,” she explains. “However, one day I went into a bank to open an account and ended up being offered a job. I worked for Barclays for three years.”
She continues: “Charter Tax is very different to many others firms due to its really open, friendly, laid back atmosphere yet with highly qualified staff in many different areas. The directors are very supportive and everyone just gets on. We’ve had some great Christmas parties, summer events and weddings over the years.”
When she’s not at work, Charlotte loves spending time with her family and friends, as well as ‘attempting’ to get to the gym, going out for a walk or scrolling through interior magazines.
