Rishi Sunak has today (12th May) announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will be extended until the end of October, although there will be some changes to the scheme from August onwards.
The extension to the scheme will mean that furloughed workers will continue to receive 80% of their salary, up to £2,500 per month. From the start of August, furloughed workers will have the flexibility to return to work part-time with employers being asked to pay a percentage of the salaries for furloughed workers, as a substitution for part of the government’s contribution.
Further specific details will be available by the end of May, and we will provide updates as this information is announced.
