Mark Howard FCA is a Chartered Accountant specialising in advising Private Clients, many of whom he has looked after for over 25 years. He recently obtained a Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration and Charter Tax will shortly be submitting an application to obtain a licence to undertake probate work.
Mark trained with Creaseys in Tunbridge Wells and after qualifying he spent 2 years with KPMG in London before returning to Creaseys. He became a partner in 1985 as a general practitioner and gradually concentrated on Private Client work; he also served on the Committee of SESCA for many years. He met Janet in 2003 when she joined Creaseys and they were partners together until she left in 2009 to set up Charter Tax. In 2012 Mark ran and developed his own accountancy practice in Rotherfield, East Sussex dealing principally with Families, Farms, Trusts and Estates. In 2015 Janet invited Mark to join her at Charter Tax and the businesses were merged at that time. Since then many of Mark’s former colleagues and clients have joined him at Charter Tax and the total complement is now over 30 staff.
He is a Past President of West Kent Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has been involved in local business groups for many years. He is a member of “Water in the Wells” a CIC encouraging the inclusion of water features in new developments in the locality and is a Trustee of Refresh Tunbridge Wells CIO, a charity promoting the inclusion of art in public places.
Mark and his family live in Rotherfield where he is also Honorary Treasurer of Rotherfield Village Hall and has recently become a Trustee of Rotherfield St Martin CIO, a charity that reduces loneliness for elderly residents of the village. His interests include motor racing, music, art and Chelsea Football Club and, when he can find some spare time, he is also the drummer in The Fabulous Blooz Band.
