Two years ago, we were very proud to support the Hospice in the Weald ‘Herd of the Hospice’ campaign, which raised over £100,000 for the hospice charity.
We sponsored the horse sculpture we called ‘Charter’ who was designed by the award-winning illustrator and caricaturist Chris Burke. Charter was among a ‘herd’ of 24 horse sculptures, which were auctioned to raise money for the charity.
With a strapline of ‘celebrating life, dignifying death’, Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent and Northern East Sussex.
In the run up to the auction, Charter enjoyed residing on The Pantiles. At the auction, he was purchased by a family in Tunbridge Wells, who have recently given us an update on his wellbeing.
We are delighted to report that he is enjoying his quieter life away from the bustle of The Pantiles but still looking just as magnificent. Apparently, he is very settled and has been welcomed enthusiastically by the neighbours and he’s even got his very own blanket to wear in colder weather!
“We are really happy to hear that Charter is continuing to enjoy life in Tunbridge Wells,” says Mark Howard, Principal at Charter Tax. “We were very proud to have been part of this fundraising campaign for Hospice in the Weald, which we know provides a vital service in our local community. We hope Charter continues to enjoy a long and happy retirement.”
